The obiage, or obi-age, is the bustle sash used to cover the obi makura (obi pillow) and tie around the front of the body, adding a decorative touch just above the line of the obi. These are gorgeous sashes, usually made of silk, with shibori elements, embroidery, and/or gorgeous chirimen crepe weaves, often with dip-dye sections that add visual interest.
